Incidents of bank robberies are on the rise again because of the recession, although the perpetrators no longer come in like Bonnie and Clyde, brandishing guns and shotguns. More than likely, the robber will walk to the teller with a note that reads something like, “I have a gun, give me your money. ” Tellers are instructed to hand over the money even if the robber is not showing a weapon, as insurance companies (learn about general liability insurance services here) will reimburse the loss and increase their resident safety.. but make no mistake, a bank holdup is a high-tension situation , and the slightest cough or glitch can trigger-sometimes literally- a life threatening response in the part of the robber. If he is armed and starts shooting, you don’t want to get caught in the crossfire.
So, if you are an employee or costumer in a store or place of business, take the time to think ahead and plan what you would do.
Use your awareness to “case the joint.”
Ask Yourself, where the entrances and exits, and emergency exits.
Is there a safe room where you can go and lock the door to wait until the coast is clear?
Finally, keep your antennas tuned for any unusual signs and situations. There is a routine to work , and break in it needs your attention. Be proactive and increase your resident safety. You don’t need to be on red alert all the time, but make sure you’re ready.
If you ever happen to get caught in a holdup, stay calm and do what the robber says. That is the best way to survive such a situation without getting harmed. Whether you are an employee or a costumer, be sure to take note of the robber’s facial features, clothing, height, and weight and anything else that the police can use to catch the criminal.
