Everyone in the family should know the schedules of ll the other family members-when they are coming and going, where they will be when not at home. Have everyone check in when they arrive at a destination, when they are leaving to come home or when they head to another location. This makes it possible to keep track and respond quickly if something unforeseen happens. With the convenience of cell phones and text messaging , there should be no reason to be out of touch for long.
If you do not hear from someone as expected, contact them and make sure everything is ok. Perhaps there was an incident or heavy traffic., which has delayed them from coming home at the appointed time. Also, keep frequent communication lets children know that you are concerned about them and that they need to stick to the schedule so you know that they are safe.
Be sure to get to know your children’s teachers and communication with them often. We are very busy with the demands of living today, but that should not prevent us from contacting teachers to make sure our children are doing well in school, and that there are no problems that might might endanger them at school or on the way home from school compromising their resident safety. Technology has given us e-mail as well as cell phones to make it easier to stay in touch . Teachers like to know that parents are interested in their children’s progress at school, and are more likely to know about their problems that could affect the safety of your children if they know you care.
I have mentioned this before , but its repeating. You need to always make sure your children are safe to increase their resident safety.
