Two men are accused of severely beating a 78-year-old man inside his Interlachen home then stealing his car Sunday, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Both 19-year-old Michael James Crum and 23-year-old Adam Richard Hale are wanted by authorities on charges of attempted murder, home-invasion robbery and grand theft of a motor vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim was beaten with a pipe or stick and suffered cuts, scrapes and bruises on his face and arms. His attackers stole less than $20 and the man’s car. The car, a 1997 Lincoln, was located about three miles away.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects can contact detective David Sanders at (386) 329-0801 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at (888) 277-TIPS (277-8477) to be eligible for cash rewards.
