Police continue to search for the suspects in an armed robbery and home invasion late Friday night that has unsettled a quiet Stoughton neighborhood.
Three men beat and robbed a person at gunpoint outside an apartment complex on Bennett Drive before forcing their way into the victim’s apartment and ransacking it, authorities said.
“I was shocked. In this neighborhood, you don’t see that,” said a neighbor who watched the police response Friday night.
“There have obviously been crimes, but nothing like a home invasion.”
Police were called to the apartment complex at 11:12 p.m. for a reported assault with a dangerous weapon. The victim reported he was approached by three men, robbed at gunpoint and beaten, and then the suspects forced the victim’s brother into their apartment and ransacked it.
“In some aspects, I feel nervous and scared,” the neighbor said.
Police pursued a fleeing suspect with the help of K-9 units, but the suspect escaped.
The neighbor said he did not hear the incident.
“The only thing I heard was when the cops were rushing in and the German shepherds were going around,” the neighbor said
Police are looking for a short, heavy-set white man with a bald or shaved head, a 6-foot white man with brown hair and a mustache and a stocky, 5-foot 8-inch black man.
The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.
Police said they do not believe it was a random attack and the investigation is ongoing.
