Authorities are investigating a home invasion robbery Thursday in La Cañada Flintridge, the second such incident within miles of each other in as many days.
Two armed men confronted an elderly couple around 10 p.m. Thursday in their home in the 5000 block of Jarvis Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The men were reportedly wearing hooded sweat shirts as they ransacked the home and took jewelry and cash.
The couple was not injured in the incident, sheriff’s officials said.
Detectives from the sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau are working to determine if the Thursday robbery is related to a similar home invasion Wednesday in La Crescenta, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
In that incident, a La Crescenta man awoke at about 10:30 p.m. to discover two men tying him up inside his home. The two men then took turns holding him at gunpoint as they ransacked his home of cash, jewelry and electronics, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The men fled the house in the 2900 block of Los Olivos Lane, leaving the homeowner tied up and unable to call police. The man was able to make it to a home of a neighbor who, believing the man was a trespasser, called police, sheriff’s officials said.
The homeowner was uninjured in the robbery.
Authorities described the robbers as possibly being in their 20s.
