ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man police said was behind two violent home invasions in Albuquerque is finally off the streets. After learning about his violent past, one of his victims said he’s thankful he lived through the ordeal.
Samuel Silva, 38, faced a judge Tuesday on a slew of charges including kidnapping, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and robbery.
One of his victims, Chris Lucero, found out about the arrest this week.
“He just told me we got him,” Lucero said.
Lucero has been waiting two months to get the call that the man he said shot his way into his home and then shot him in the leg was finally locked up. Lucero said he’ll never forget Silva’s face.
“I thought that I was going to die in my own house,” Lucero said.
In April, Lucero said Silva was banging on his glass door just before noon.
“The closer I got I noticed that he was holding a firearm,” Lucero said.
Lucero said he bolted to the back bedroom to try and get his gun but it was too late.
“I heard a shot go off and that’s when he shot the door,” Lucero said.

“He kind of grabbed me and I was crawling down the hall,” Lucero said.
Lucero said Silva found the keys then grabbed Lucero one last time.
“He did come up to me and put the gun to my head,” Lucero said. “That’s when I told him there’s no need to do any more damage and that’s when he ran out the door.”
After calling 911, Lucero learned his neighbor had called police, too. His neighbor told detectives Silva tied her up with electrical cords and ransacked her home.
According to a criminal complaint, Silva’s blood was found in the victim’s truck and that’s how detectives linked him to the crimes.
Lucero found out this week about Silva’s violent past.
“I was kind of shocked and my wife just started crying because after knowing what he had done prior I could have died,” Lucero said.
According to the Department of Corrections, Silva has been convicted of numerous crimes including attempted second-degree murder, shooting from a car and assault on a cop.
KRQE learned even while Silva was locked up he had racked up more charges.
In 2000, Silva was linked to a notorious gang that was behind the brutal death of a fellow inmate. He was charged with murder. But according to the state’s court website, the charge was dismissed.
