Home Invasion
Candace was returning to her car in the parking lot of a large mall. She had farther away from the entrance that day then usual , but she was not worried. What could go wrong in broad daylight? Physically fit, she felt safe in the belief that she could call for help and take care of herself if anything happened. So when she came out of the sore, she was carrying the purchases she had made in a large shopping bag and chatting with a friend on her cell phone- she failed to notice two men who were stalking her.
As they moved in her direction, another shopper spotted them and observed that they were wearing long trench coats. That struck her as odd. It was a hot, sunny day, and these men did not look like regular shoppers. She quickly called 911 on her cell phone. Although the police responded right away, by the time they got there it was almost too late. The men had overpowered Candance, forced her into the car, demanded she hand over her purse. When she didn’t comply immediately, one of them brutally stabbed her in the side and shoved her further into the car.
The police came on the scene just as the second stalker began to attack Candance. Hearing the sirens, the criminals ran off, pursued by one of the squad cars. An ambulance, arrived and took Candance to a nearby hospital where she received five stitches. She was lucky she got off so easy. The other shopper’s awareness and quick thinking probably saved her life. Be prepared for situations like that even during home invasions.
