Three men with handguns forced their way into an apartment at 650 W. McKinley St., the University Edge Apartments near the LSU campus, late Wednesday, beating and robbing one victim while another victim was injured after fleeing out a window, Baton Rouge police said.
The men stole money and various items in home invasion/robbery around 11:30 p.m., then while fleeing the apartment, attempted to rob six others at gunpoint, Baton Rouge police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said Thursday morning.
One suspect, Hayward Howard, 27, 5336 Marais St. in New Orleans, was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on two counts of armed robbery and six counts of attempt armed robbery, McKneely said. “Police are actively searching for the other two suspects.”
The victim who was beaten suffered minor injuries while the one who jumped out the window was taken to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries, McKneely said.
