TULSA, Oklahoma -

One man is dead and a second seriously injured after what Tulsa police call an attempted home invasion. It happened at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Greens of Bedford Apartments, in the 6500 block of South 106th East Place.

Police say a man in his 40s tried to force his way into an apartment, but the resident was armed. He shot and killed the intruder.

The deceased man has been identified as Michael Walton, 43, according to Detective Mark Kennedy, Tulsa Police.

The second man, identified as Tommy Debrosse, 35, was shot in the face, arms and back, police say. He showed up at a Tulsa hospital around 5 a.m. and was transferred to another hospital due to the severity of his wounds, according to Tulsa police.

In a news bulletin issued late Sunday morning, Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said a woman sometimes lived at the apartment but was moving out. As she left the apartment, Walton apparently forced his way in, Walker said.

Police now believe Debrosse was helping the woman move out.

“The investigation to date reveals that the shooting appears to be justified and the apartment renter is not arrested,” said Sergeant Dave Walker.

“The female’s recollection of events is inconsistent with the evidence, but not enough is known for her to be arrested at this time.”
