ROGERS, Minn. - Two suspects are in custody after a reported home invasion led to a high-speed police pursuit down I-94 in the northwest metro Thursday morning.

The ordeal began minutes after 9 a.m. when Elk River Police received reports of a possible home invasion on the 185000 block of Quincy Court. Responding officers were told that two suspects forced their way into the home and assaulted the couple who lives there. The wife was tied up while the husband was ordered to leave the home with them. Police found the injured man outside the home, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A description of the suspect vehicle, an older red Cadillac, was sent to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

“You don’t want to have a home invasion in your city,” said Elk River Police Chief Brad Rolfe. “I thought it was going to be important to get to the scene and get the vehicle description. The wife was able to call 911 and give an accurate description of the vehicle so that helped.”

Rogers Police Chief Jeffrey Beahen says within a matter of minutes one of his officers spotted the car getting onto I-94 from Highway 101. Beahen says the suspects likely realized they were being pursued by an officer because all of a sudden the driver did a U-Turn and started speeding westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-94.

Police began pursuit believing the victim of the home invasion and kidnapping was also in the car. At times the chase reached speeds of up to 100 miles-per-hour.

Eventually the suspect vehicle exited onto Main Street in Rogers, turned eastbound on County Road 81, struck another vehicle and ended up in a ditch near County Road 81 and Brockton. The two suspects fled on foot but were soon captured by police.

Officers found that the alleged kidnapping victim was not in the car, but was found injured at another location in Elk River..

At this point it is unclear if there is any relationship between the suspects and victim.

Dozens of officers are processing the scene of the alleged home invasion and kidnapping, which is on the 1800 block of Quincy Court and Trott Brook Parkway in Elk River.
