Girl Shot in Head After Supposed Home Invasion

The boyfriend of a woman shot in the head in her Kew Gardens apartment Sunday told cops the attack occurred during a home invasion — but police aren’t buying his story, law-enforcement sources said.
According to the boyfriend, three armed thugs barged through the front door of the couple’s third-floor apartment on 127th Street in Queens sometime around 9 a.m. and demanded money, police sources said.
The man said his girlfriend was shot when one of the attackers’ guns went off during an ensuing struggle. He then drove the badly wounded woman to Jamaica Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
Cops are still questioning him, sources said.
A next-door neighbor reported hearing the couple fighting on a regular basis since they moved in about four months ago.
“They usually start fighting at night and go on into the morning,” said Carlos Gomez, 36. “You can hear the woman screaming.’’
Another neighbor said he “heard something like banging” in the morning.
“Sounded like a heavy hammer,’’ Charlie Webber, 49, said. “It scared me. It got my attention. But they’ve been doing construction next door, so I figured it was just [that].”
Cops “found a ton of drugs in the apartment,” a police source at the scene said.
