DALLAS -

A 4-year-old girl was shot during a home invasion robbery in the west Oak Cliff area of Dallas.

It happened at an apartment complex near Loop 12 and West Jefferson Boulevard.

Police said two armed men forced their way into the apartment and demanded money. There was a struggle and shots were fired.

The girl was asleep in her bedroom at the time. She was shot in the arm and is being treated at Children’s Medical Center.

Willie Brighton, the girl’s uncle, said she will be okay.

No one else in the apartment was hurt, but Brighton believes one of the gunmen accidentally shot himself before fleeing.

Police said they are actively searching for the suspects.
