Law enforcement officer Ron Daniels has done something akin to inventing a better mousetrap. He has designed and patented a better door lock called The Ultimate Lock. The revolutionary lock can withstand close to 4,000 pounds of pressure.According to Millennium Lock Systems’ testing engineer, SWAT officers in Virginia attempted to kick the door with the lock on it and used a battering ram, hitting on the deadbolt repeatedly, and still could not get in.Traditional door locks do not utilize the strongest structural part of a door, which is the door frame. Only a quarter inch of wood keeps you separated from would be intruders.
The Ultimate Lock is a 3 in 1 lock that protects against bump keys, helps prevent door kick-ins, and has a panic button feature to render duplicate keys useless, and it works with the door’s existing deadbolt lock. The Ultimate Lock, which is endorsed by NASA SATOP Division and is being manufactured by OYO Geospace Corp. in Houston, Texas, will soon be for sale in stores such as Home Depot and Lowe’s Home Improvement through Fort Worth-based distributor Lane-McDuff Sales Co. Inc., and Marcos-based McCoy’s Building Supply will sell the product.
Ron Daniels along with Ron Browne, Design Engineer, will oversee the future design teams and global operations. There are about 6 million residential break-ins a year in the U.S. In the time it takes to read this article, about 35 doors will be kicked in, Daniels says.
